Design for a Humanistic Copywriting Studio

The WildHive Client:

Studio Mash is a brand strategy and copywriting studio for purpose-driven businesses, owned by Mashia Stilt. I’ve had the pleasure of working with Mashia on previous projects so I jumped at the opportunity to work with such a wonderful creative on her own brand and website refresh.

In this post, I'm breaking down the design process for this humanistic copywriting and brand studio. Let's get started!

Why I was buzzing to get started:

I've had the pleasure of collaborating with Mashia on a few of my favorite projects before working with her on her own brand (Take a look at this vegan beauty brand or this international jewelry brand!). It's safe to say that we've spent our fair share of time together via zoom meetings and even in-person meet-ups. She's an amazing copywriter, creative mind, and business owner who strives to bring the very best to each one of her clients.

The Goal:

Our goal for this project was to lay down the foundation of her brand through in-depth brand strategy, design a unique visual identity, and build a website that helps her interact with her customers. We also outlined and refined her process as well as created a branded template.

The Journey:

First, Mashia and I started with her brand strategy to lay a strong foundation for her brand's new look and mission. Through the brand strategy, we covered topics like her brand message, personality, unique positioning, voice, and solutions.

Once the strategy was finalized, I used the insights we gathered to design a unique look for her brand's visual identity. This included her logo suite, font suite, and color palette. Having created a cohesive look, I was then able to customize her chosen website template to fit her brand.

Deliverables:

  • Brand Strategy

  • Brand Design

  • Website Design and Development

Design Solutions:

For Studio Mash’s color palette, we combined all of Mashia’s favorite neutrals for that warm and fuzzy, yet uber-sophisticated feeling. It’s a kin to one’s morning cup of coffee, go-to pasta dish, and luxurious, white linens all wrapped up in one look. This color palette is designed to make Mashia’s customers feel at home in her online space. The warm, sandy tones tell them of her friendly, approachable nature while the deep, rich brown adds a touch of sensibility

and maturity that paints Mashia as their trustworthy and down-to-earth business advocate.

Then we chose a logo font style that is traditional, timeless, and modern. It’s the type of font you would see at an art gallery opening, in a jewelry store, or on an invitation to a private party. Its slightly rounded features keep the logo approachable while its delicate, thick-to-thin line-work shows its high-quality.

The Final Results!

In the end, our strategy, design, and collaboration created a unique and powerful brand and website for Studio Mash so she can better attract, relate to, and serve her target audience.

Here's what Mashia had to say:

“This [strategy] is absolutely AMAZING! There are so many things that I desperately needed clarity on that I feel so excited to start implementing!”

"The color palette feels so right for the type of clientele I want!"

"I am absolutely STUNNED by the visual identity concepts!"
